Parking on street a continuing problem
(Posted 4-15-05)
It appears that some Ivy Hall
residents have either forgotten the rules against parking in the street
or they are ignoring them.
Either way, the practice is putting
people and property in jeopardy.
Parking in the street not only is
unsafe -- it contributed to at least three accidents in the past year -- it is a direct violation of our covenants.
Article
VI, Section 2, subsection i of the covenants states the following:
“It will be a violation of these
covenants, conditions, and restrictions: (1) to park on any part of a
resident lot other than the concrete driveway or an extension constructed
specifically for the purpose of parking a vehicle; (2) to park on the
street or road adjacent thereof, interfering with traffic and/or
emergency vehicles.”
The board and management company
will not tolerate residents who consistently have cars or trailers parked
in the street.
If after two written warnings the
irresponsible parking hasn’t ceased, the Association WILL take
legal action. Violators could be liable for court costs and legal fees.
Residents with small driveways are
encouraged to expand their concrete pads like many residents already
have. (Please be sure to get ARC approval first.)
The Association strongly urges your
help in this matter. We’ve been fortunate that no children have been
injured yet. PLEASE move the cars off the road before that
happens.
To report a violation or for more
information, contact Dina Bevis of Great Beach Management at 886-8845
ext. 13 or via email at

Residents urged to report unlicensed
solicitation
(Posted 4-15-05)
Ivy Hall residents are urged
to be wary of door-to-door salesmen in the neighborhood.
A Morningdale Drive home was
robbed during the day recently. The thieves apparently entered from the
rear when the owners were at work. It is believed that thieves were
combing Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods disguised as salesmen looking for
vacant homes to rob.
Report any door-to-door
solicitation to police. Solicitors must be permitted by the town, but
few rarely are. Ask for proof when they knock.

New playground, jogging trail installed
(Updated 4-15-05)
Site plan by Seamon,
Whiteside & Associates
An asphalt walking/jogging
trail, playground and picnic area are among amenities that have been installed
in Ivy Hall's main common area. Click
here to see site plan.
Construction began
in January. Most items were installed by the end of February. We are still
awaiting the installation of some signs.
Meridian Development LLC, the
developer of the new 76-home Laurel Grove neighborhood going up off
Lexington Drive, is furnishing and installing the amenities at its expense as
part of a two-year-old agreement with the Ivy Hall POA that allows Laurel
Grove residents to use them. Laurel Grove's POA will pay a proportional
share of the annual maintenance, tax and insurance costs involved with
the common area.
The playground (click on
photo below) includes
four swings (2 strap seats and 2 baby seats), four animal spring rockers,
a 6-foot-slide, and a climbing arch. Each piece of equipment is of
high quality, and the entire playground is built to strict safety
codes. Picnic tables, benches and cooking grills are installed
nearby.
Children play in our new
playgound.
Arguably the most exciting
feature of our new amenity area is the trail -- a 4-foot-wide
asphalt path that links the sidewalk at the Balcome Road cul-de-sac
with the two access boardwalks in the common area. The trail is
1,777 feet long and follows a course next to the tree line.
The trail crosses the field
at one point, creating a scenic loop that joggers and walkers can enjoy while piling up laps. The exact "lap" distance has yet to
be calculated, but it looks to be about 1/5th of a mile.
No motorized vehicles are
permitted on the trail. Violators will be reported to the
Mt. Pleasant Police Department. Fines could apply.
