ENTRANCE LIGHTS REPAIRED
(Updated 12-16-08)
Lights that illuminate Ivy Hall's entrance sign, which had been out since early November,
have finally been repaired.
Board member Martine Wolfe-Miller gets most of the credit. She located an
electrician who could get the job done when other electricians balked.
Martine also is responsible for installing the beautiful lighted wreath
on the sign and Christmas lights on the palm trees.
Thank you Martine!

LEXINGTON SIGN FINALLY INSTALLED ON HWY 17
(Posted 11-18--08)
More than a year after traffic signals thankfully were activated in front
of our neighborhood, we have a street sign.
Town workers installed a green "Lexington Dr." sign last week on the
signal arm facing southbound drivers on U.S. Highway 17. Northbound
drivers face a sign that directs them to the Market at Oakland shopping
center.
The traffic signals were activated Sept. 18, 2007.

FALL IS TIME TO GET YOUR HOME'S
EXTERIOR PRESSURE-WASHED
(Posted 10-13-08)
As durable and attractive as vinyl siding is, it's not immune to mildew.
That's why Ivy Hall residents are encouraged to get their homes
pressure-washed at least once a year. Fall is a great time to have this
service performed because the mildew typically is at its peak, having
spent all summer growing in the heat and humidity.
It's important to
remove mildew, which attracts bugs and can be a health hazard if breathed
in too much. The unsightly growth also detracts from the overall look of
the neighborhood.
Dozens of pressure-cleaning companies service Mount
Pleasant, a list of which can be found in the yellow pages under
"Pressure Cleaning Service." The service usually takes less than a hour
and costs between $80-$125 here in Ivy Hall.
One company that has been
doing reliable business in Ivy Hall for years is Custom Exterior
Cleaning. To set up an appointment, call 763-5899.
Thank you for helping to
keep Ivy Hall beautiful!

GARBAGE COLLECTION CHANGES IN EFFECT FOR MT. PLEASANT
Ivy Hall residents now
on a Tuesday-Wednesday schedule
(Updated 10-13-08)
The Town of Mount
Pleasant has begun collecting trash in Ivy Hall on Tuesdays and Wednesdays instead
of just Tuesdays.
Residents still need to have their
garbage buggy and trash that won't fit in the buggy -- such as leaves,
brush, appliances, furniture, etc. -- on the curb by 7 a.m. each Tuesday.
Collection crews will empty buggies and note any extra trash on Tuesdays,
then return on Wednesdays to pick up the rest.
The change in service is
part of a new trash collection system that the town says is far more
efficient than its current system.
For more information, check out this
town flyer or call
the town's sanitation department at 884-8518.
