RESIDENTS REMINDED TO LOCK VEHICLES AT NIGHT
Police report a rash of recent vehicle break-ins here
(Posted 5-30-06)
Although Ivy Hall has one of the
lowest reported crime rates of any neighborhood in Mount Pleasant, we're
not immune to it. Police say a number of vehicles have been broken into
in recent weeks.
Most of the incidents occurred at
night. Nearly all of the vehicles were unlocked.
Items stolen have included
everything from loose change to a valuable notebook computer.
Residents are reminded to always
lock their vehicles and remove items from view that might tempt thieves.
Other ways to help thwart these types of incidents:
Install motion sensor lighting on your garage or along your
driveway.
Park close to your house and as far from the street as possible.
Be wary of suspicious characters -- usually teenage boys -- roaming
the streets at night. Consider calling the police if you think they're
up to no good.
Let's all try to look out for each other. Thank you!

ELECTRICIANS RESTORE POWER TO ENTRANCE LIGHTS
(Updated 5-26-06)
Electricians finally restored power
to our entrance lights this week, thanks to the efforts of our management
company and SCE&G.
The lights were out for about two
weeks in May.
It appears construction crews along
Lexington Drive inadvertently cut a power line because all three SCE&G
lamp posts closest to our entrance went out at the same time as our entrance
lights. The lamp posts were still dark as of the night of May 25th.
Residents who notice power outages
at the entrance are encouraged to contact a
Board member or our
management company.

SPRING PICNIC A SUCCESS
(Posted 5-21-06)
About 100 residents attended our
community picnic held May 20th at the main common area.
Thanks to everyone for attending
and helping make it a success. The POA supplied hot dogs, drinks and a
jump castle for kids. Many guests brought tasty dishes to share. The
rain-free afternoon was a fun time for all.
Special thanks go out to Hank Futch
Jr., property manager/leasing agent for The
Market
at Oakland, the new Walmart-anchored shopping center going up across
from our entrance. For about an hour during the picnic, Hank displayed
renderings and answered questions about the project.
Thanks also go out to the following
area businesses that donated door prizes:
RB’s Seafood Restaurant gift certificate ($25 value)
Yamato Japanese Steakhouse gift
card ($25 value)
Gilligan’s Steamer and Rawbar
gift certificate ($25 value)
Locklear’s restaurant gift
certificate (Lunch for 2)
Wild Birds Unlimited (Wooden bird house)
Sticky Fingers restaurant gift
certificate ($10 value)
Piggly Wiggly gift card ($10)

CONSTRUCTION ONGOING ON SEABORN DRIVE
(Posted 5-3-06)
Construction crews continue to work
along a section of Seaborn Drive, inconveniencing Ivy Hall residents who
live there.
The contractor, Landmark
Construction Co. Inc. of North Charleston, began construction in early
April and told residents in a flier dated March 31 that work in the road
would "take less than two days." But crews were still on the job
during the first week of May.
The work involves tapping into Ivy
Hall's water and sewer lines for the new Carol Oaks neighborhood going up
at the end of Gregorie Ferry Road. The new connecting lines are being
installed in the vacant lot between 3312 and 3304 Seaborn.
Residents who have questions about
this project are encouraged to call Landmark Construction directly. The
contact person is Chris L. Hawker, and he can be reached at 200-9239.
