TRAFFIC RELIEF: Highway 17 signal activated! (Updated 10-15-07)

William Ray re-elected POA Board President (Updated 10-15-07)

FINALLY TRAFFIC RELIEF: HIGHWAY 17 SIGNAL ACTIVATED
Signal activation tied to opening of Wal-Mart Supercenter
(Updated 10-15-07)

No more long waits or death-defying left turns! Our traffic signal is finally working.

Town crews activated the new signal on Highway 17 and Lexington Drive on Sept. 18.

Residents are still urged to use caution while making turns, particularly right turns on red out of the neighborhood. This is because northbound drivers on 17 are permitted to make U-turns in front of us. So be sure to watch for U-turning vehicles before making that right turn.

WILLIAM RAY JR. RE-ELECTED POA PRESIDENT FOR 2007-08
Board newcomer Martine Wolfe-Miller elected Treasurer
(Updated 10-15-07)

William Ray Jr., a Realtor and five-year resident of Ivy Hall, has been re-elected President of the neighborhood's Property Owners Association for 2007-08.

The Board of Directors during its regular August meeting voted unanimously for Ray (pictured left), who has served as president since August of 2006.

Most of the other officers and committee chairmen were re-elected as well. Gary Jaster was voted to another term as Vice-President, and Fletcher Pilling was voted to another term as chairman of the neighborhood's Architectural Review Committee (ARC). Bob Lang was voted Secretary, replacing

Robin Richardson, who desired a less work intensive position on the Board. Lang, a former three-term president, agreed to continue heading up the neighborhood's Web site and coordinating newsletters.

The lone new officer is Martine Wolfe-Miller, voted to the Treasurer position. Wolfe-Miller joined the board earlier this year after longtime member Dick Clarke stepped down. She succeeds former Treasurer Carol Kennedy, who also stepped down this year.

Sheila Anderson, in her second year on the board, has been appointed chairman of the Welcoming Committee.

Rounding out the current nine-member Board are Kevin Brady and Scott Taylor, both of whom appointees to the ARC committee.

Officers of the Association are elected by the Board at the first regular meeting after the annual meeting in July. Terms are for one year.
